Attempt to sabotage Enterprise Sri Lanka! Featured

State intelligence is inquiring into an organized attempt by certain state bank officials to sabotage ‘Enterprise Sri Lanka’ programme that aims to make the country a haven for entrepreneurs.

Meeting last week, the UNP parliamentary group complained to the prime minister in this regard.

It has come to light that certain bank officials have avoided several regional workshops to raise awareness among them on the programme.

Strong action

State enterprise development minister Lakshman Kiriella has told ‘Mawbima’ that strong action would be taken against the bank officials who sabotage the loan scheme under the progrmme.

He said he had inquired from the bank managers in question.

Kiriella said he would deal with this attempt at sabotage by a handful of officials, while the programme was progressing successfully.

A per budget proposals of 2017 and 2018, Enterprise Sri Lanka programme is being implemented by the ministry of finance through state banks and local and international financial institutions.
