The government intends to provide relief to the public in several areas after the agreement ends.
By the agreement between the IMF and the Sri Lankan government, it has imposed several restrictions in the provision of relief to the people including certain restrictions on expenditure as well.
The said agreements were signed during the Mahinda Rajapaksa regime in 2013 and it is scheduled to expire by the end of the year.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has instructed the Finance Ministry to submit a report detailing the relief measures to be offered after the agreement ends.
