However, a person who was there from the start of their courtship was one of Sri Lanka’s most clever production manager Malcolm Mantara.
While Malcolm was working on the film “Bombay velvet” Anushka, who was in Sri Lanka had made a request. That was to go to the airport and pick up a friend of hers. Malcolm had obliged and the friend he picked up was none other than Virat Kohli.
Kohli, however, was not that popular at the time, but he was very spirited. He had told Malcolm to hop into the passenger seat of the car, taken the wheel and asked him for his address, to which Malcolm had responded, saying he lived in Maharagama.
Much to his surprise, Kohli had driven to Maharagama, without once asking for directions, which was indicative of how familiar he was of Sri Lanka and the roads here. Kohli had dropped Malcolm at his home and then proceeded to meet Anushka. That was when Malcolm had got wind of the romance between Kohli and Anushka initially.
