Tsunami wins 2 awards at Bayelsa Film Fest

Sri Lankan movie ‘Tsunami’ directed by Dr. Somaratne Dissanayake and produced by Renuka Balasuriya, has won two major awards at the Bayelsa International Film Festival 2021.
The film festival is being held in Nigeria from Oct. 26-29.
Dr. Somaratne Dissanayake won the award for the best director while the film's female lead played by Niranjani Shanmugaraja, won the best actress award.
The movie was nominated in several categories.
Shanmugaraja and Darshan Dharmaraj played lead roles along with Himali Sayurangi and Bimal Jayakody. The film was produced by Dr. Dissanayake's wife - Renuka Balasooriya for Cine Films Lanka. Music was composed by Rohana Weerasinghe.
The film is based on incidents that occurred in Sri Lanka during the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami.
