Religious leaders, Minister Rishad Bathiudeen, Korean partners as well as staff of the KoLanka Group attended the opening ceremony.
An investment of Korea, the company aims to strengthen the prominence of organic products in Sri Lanka as well as to introduce Sri Lankan organic products to foreign markets such as China and Korea. It will also create a host of employment opportunities, directly and indirectly.
Those already involved in organic productions will be initially given a training to ensure that the quality of products are upto par. Afterwards, their products, which include agri products such as fruits, vegetables and spices as well as handcrafts and leather work are introduced to foreign markets.
Investors have given special prominence to expectant mothers and plans to introduce a range of organic products for them.
The company will enter into agreements, pledging to purchase the products of organic producers.
