Several employees of the Ninewells Hospital at Kirimandala Mawatha in Narahenpita have fallen ill due to food poisoning after a company luncheon held on Thaipongal day (Jan.14), reports say.

It is said that some ailing workers are being treated at the ICU of the same hospital.

Details of this incident are currently being kept under the wraps and is even concealed from parents of workers and authorities.

Even the area PHI is unaware of the incident.

According to reports, a significant number of employees had fallen ill and were subsequently barred from leaving the hospital.

We have been reaching out to the Ninewells Hospital for the past two days regarding this matter for a clarification, but hospital authorities have been evading the issue.

The hospital is owned by the Access Group, chaired by Sumal Perera.
