Curry pot - Saraswathie Lodge fined over contaminated food Featured

The Maligakanda Magistrate Court today (03) fined two eateries in Colombo for selling contaminated food.
The Curry Pot in Colpetty and Saraswathie Lodge in Bambalapitiya were ordered to pay a fine of Rs. 10,000 as well as a compensation of Rs. 25,000 to the aggrieved customers.
The case was taken up after the two customers lodged complaints with PHI M.B. Lal Kumara of the CMC Food Control Unit.
One customer had claimed that a portion of noodles ordered from Curry Pot via Uber Eats had the remains of a moth. Meanwhile, the other customer had complained that a Masala Dosa from Saraswathie Lodge had contained remains of a cockroach. 
Mr. Dinesh Silva and Mr. Somasundaram Devdas, who claimed to be the owners of Curry Pot and Saraswathie Lodge respectively, had pleaded guilty.
