Tourist hotels to reopen in July Featured

Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has decided to open all tourist hotels for local and foreign tourists by July, the 'Aruna' newspaper reports.

It quotes the chairperson of the SLTDA, Ms. Kimarli Fernando as to saying that hotel owners have been briefed on the health recommendations that should be followed after opening hotels.

A special meeting on this regard will be held next week.

The Ministry of Health has already issued health recommendations for the opening of tourist hotels.

These measures include facemasks being mandatory for hotel staff, following the traditional Sri Lankan way of greeting with folded palms instead of handshakes, fumigation of public areas and sanitising equipment.

Visitors' temperatures are to be checked and details of their country, airline details are to obtained at check-in.
